Previously thought to be a rare disease, Amyloidosis has become a Chronic rather than Lethal disease in the medical field. New technology as well as novel therapeutic therapies have revolutionized the Amyloidosis field allowing for improvements on accurate diagnosis, treatment, and long-term survival. However, the multistep diagnosis process, symptom management intricacies, and progression of the disease continue to challenge providers who are encountering patients in their practice, regardless of their field of care.
The “Amyloidosis Bootcamp” will provide Amyloidosis providers the opportunity to review Amyloidosis pathophysiology, identify common pitfalls in the diagnostic workup, and fully understand treatments for both Light Chain and Transthyretin Amyloid disease. Additionally, the program will discuss the role of the Nurse Navigator as key to building an Amyloidosis Center of Excellence.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this presentation the audience will be able to:
1. Describe the multifaceted diagnosis process for both Amyloid Light Chain (AL)
Disease and Amyloid Transthyretin (ATTR) cardiomyopathies.
2. Identify current disease modifying therapies based on Amyloidosis type as well
as symptom management of Cardiac Amyloidosis patient
3. Discuss the impact of the Nurse Navigator when building an Amyloidosis Center
of Excellence.
