Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing: The Impact of Comorbid Conditions in Heart Failure PatientsThe documents on this page require the free Adobe Reader. As a heart failure nurse, you are well aware of the multiple treatment challenges that arise when caring for these patients. They require diligent titration of complex drug therapies, detailed education about the disease process and self-management techniques, close attention to volume status, and constant awareness of even subtle changes in symptoms and functional capacity. And all of this is done just for a patient’s heart failure. But how many patients do you care for that have just this one diagnosis? The reality is that the majority of heart failure patients have multiple co-existing illnesses, which greatly increases the complexity of caring for them. AAHFN has just sponsored the publication of the most current resource now available for caring for heart failure patients with comorbid conditions. A recent supplement to The Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing was devoted to this very topic and all of the articles in the supplement are now posted on our website for your viewing. By addressing the overall care of the heart failure patient, including the impact of all of their chronic conditions, we will make tremendous strides in improving their quality of life! Forward |
