 2024 Heart Failure Awareness Week:

Empowering Patients with Knowledge and Hope

Do you remember where you were the first time you heard the words “heart failure?” Did the words make you feel scared, worried, or angry? Did a hundred questions pop into your head at once? Questions, like, “how did this happen,” “how is it treated,” or “how do I tell my family?”

Heart failure is a complex syndrome that can affect many organs in the body and have many different symptoms. While no one’s journey is exactly like anyone else’s, one thing remains the same: You are not alone.

Living with heart failure requires teamwork. Communicating with your health care
providers, including your friends and family in your care, and engaging with community resources gives you the best chance of success. We here at AAHFN want to be part of your team to help you live your best life while managing your heart failure. This year’s Heart Failure Awareness Week is dedicated to people living with heart failure, whether their own diagnosis or a loved one’s.
