Urge your Federal Legislators to Co-Sponsor the FAAN Act!

America’s healthcare facilities are experiencing a severe shortage of nurses. In fact, 89% of nurses report witnessing staffing shortages at their medical facility. This unfortunate trend is adversely impacting patients’ access to timely, high-quality care and nurses’ well-being.

This is why the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses is supporting the Future Advancement of Academic Nursing (FAAN) Act (H.R. 7266/S. 3770) in Congress.

This bill would increase the number of faculty and students at nursing schools to address nursing workforce shortages and allow nursing schools to enhance preparedness, quickly respond to public health emergencies, and modernize their nursing education programs. Considerations would be made to distribute grants with priority to schools of nursing that are: located in medically underserved or health professional shortage areas, a minority-serving institution, or located in rural areas or non-contiguous States or territories of the United States.

Through these investments, this measure will help rebuild the nursing workforce and ensure patients’ access to timely care by well-trained medical professionals.

Urge Congress to help prepare the future nursing workforce by co-sponsoring the FAAN Act today.
