Purpose Statement
The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to understand the current evidence base for the comprehensive management of pain in patients with heart failure
Objectives
1. Describe the prevalence of pain in patients with heart failure
2. List two etiologies of pain in patients with heart failure.
3. Discuss the findings of the PAIN-HF study.
4. List two adjuvant drugs for pain management in patients with heart failure.
5. List two drugs to avoid when managing pain in patients with heart failure.
6. Discuss two non-pharmacologic pain management strategies in patients with heart failure.
7. Given a case study, suggest pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment strategies
Requirements for Successful Completion
Participant must read the accreditation information, complete the activity in its entirety, successfully pass the post test with a minimal score of 70% and submit an evaluation to be awarded contact hours. Participants who successfully complete this activity in its entirety will be awarded 1.1 contact hours.
