AIRPORT INFORMATION

 

Orlando International Airport, MCO - is an international airport six miles southeast of Orlando, Florida. The airport is the 2nd busiest in the state of Florida, as over 40.2 million passengers were handled at the airport as of 2015.This makes it the 14th busiest airport in the U.S. by total passenger traffic.

The airport serves as a hub for Silver Airways, as well as a focus city for Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines is the airport's largest carrier by passengers carried. The airport also is a major international gateway for the mid Florida region, with flights by foreign air carriers.

The airport code MCO stands for the airport's former name, McCoy Air Force Base, a Strategic Air Command (SAC) installation, that was closed in 1975 as part of a general military drawdown following the end of the Vietnam War.

Airport Ground Transportation

 

Shuttle Vans

Located on the A-Side of the Terminal, on the Ground Transportation Level (Level) 1, at Commercial Lane parking spaces: A9-A10 and A36-A37

Located on the B-Side of the Terminal, on the Ground Transportation Level (Level) 1, at Commercial Lane parking spaces: B9-B10 and B40-B41

The hotel recommends the use of Mears Transportation Group - (407) 423-5566
They are available by phone 24/7. You may make your reservation online (maximum of 180 days in advance) so you do not have to stand in line to purchase a ticket.

However, regardless of if you have a reservation or purchase you ticket upon arrival it will be a 20 - 30 minute wait for a shuttle and then travel time to the hotel is 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic and construction.

Rates are $23.00 one way or $37.00 round trip (to get the round trip pricing both trips must be purchased at the same time) plus tip.

Mears on site transportation desk is located on the lower level next to the car rental desks and is open from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 midnight. Outside those hours you must call them to arrange for a pickup from the airport to the hotel.

 

Taxis

Located on the A-Side of the Terminal, on the Ground Transportation Level (Level) 1, at Commercial Lane parking spaces: A5-A8 and A22-A25

Located on the B-Side of the Terminal, on the Ground Transportation Level (Level) 1, at Commercial Lane parking spaces: B5-B8 and B30-B34

Taxis may carry up to 9 passengers, and charge the same rate regardless of the number of passengers. All taxicabs picking up at the Airport are regulated by the City of Orlando’s Vehicle-for-Hire ordinance which requires fares to be determined by a taximeter. Flat rate fees are not authorized. Approximate rate to hotel is between $55.00 and $65.00 one way plus tip.

Rental Cars

Orlando is the largest rental car market in the world, with most of the major car rental companies located on-airport, without the need for a shuttle bus to pick up your rental car.
