PURPOSE

To discuss the role of the Wearable Cardiac Defibrillators in the treatment of Heart Failure patients at risk of SCA. Discussion will include an overview of SCA risk in HF patients, as well as management strategies when long-term arrhythmia risk has not been established.


OBJECTIVES

1. Describe what a life vest is and who is a life vest patient?
2. Discuss safety and efficacy of a life vest.
3. Define how a life vest is part of continuum of care.
4. Discuss society guidelines, FDA indications and coverage by insurance companies.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION

Participant must read the accreditation information, complete the activity in its entirety, successfully pass the post test with a minimal score of 70% and submit an evaluation to be awarded contact hours.
Participants who successfully complete this activity in its entirety will be awarded 1 contact hour.
