Purpose Statement

The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to develop a better understanding of the pathophysiology and hemodynamic parameters of PAH and treatment options for this disease, and the role of the nurse in helping these patients better understand and manage their disease.

Objectives
1. Describe the pathophysiology of pulmonary hypertension
2. Describe the three classifications of medications used in the management of PAH including indications for use, dosing, side effects, and monitoring .
3. Review components/methods of patient education regarding PAH and treatments
4. Discuss disease management challenges associated with PAH
5. Identify hemodynamic parameters associated with pulmonary hypertension
 

Requirement for successful completion
Participant must read the accreditation information, complete the activity in its entirety, successfully pass the post test with a minimal score of 70% and submit an evaluation to be awarded contact hours.
Participants who successfully complete this activity in its entirety will be awarded 1 contact hour.
