Thank you for your interest in taking an active leadership role in our rapidly growing organization. As a director, you would have the opportunity to continue to participate in the development and growth of AAHFN beyond the level of a volunteer or committee role. AAHFN aims to set standards for heart failure nursing care and serve as the professional network for those who are passionate about heart failure management, and improving the lives of patients and their families. The AAHFN Nominations Committee is seeking strong, visionary and enthusiastic leaders to be considered for open Board of Director positions for the July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2019 Board term.
Below is a list of some of the competencies AAHFN looks for in a leader:
The AAHFN Nominations Committee welcomes applicants who have previously served at least 1 year in a volunteer role on a committee for AAHFN. It is required that applicants have been active AAHFN members at least one year prior to the submission of the application.
Responsibilities include involvement with all business and affairs of the association, subject to the control of the Board of Directors, including planning, establishing corporate policies, approving budgetary aspects, and adopting, amending or repeal bylaws.
· Attend 2 in-person Board of Director meetings per year
· Attend monthly Board of Directors conference call meetings and other conference calls as assigned
· Participate with committees on an as needed basis
· Serve as a Facilitator or Leader on appointed committee or task forces
· Attend the Annual Conference in 2017 and during each year of their term
· Projected time requirement of 3-4 hours month
Call for Nominations Committee Members - 2 Positions Available
The AAHFN Nominations Committee members are elected by the membership. We will be accepting applications for two (2) nominations committee members for the 2018 voting election.
(1 year term, 2 positions available)
Responsibilities include: Nominations Committee Members shall have been voting members of the Association for no less than one (1) year immediately prior to election. Members of the Nominations Committee shall meet as a group via conference calls 3-4 times a year and shall make its recommendation of candidates to the Board of Directors in a closed session. Nominations Committee members will be involved in the development of the nominations application, reviewing of the completed applications, interviewing candidates and the final decision of the slate of candidates to be presented to the Board of Directors. The Nominations Committee will consist of the following: no less than two (2) members of the Board of Directors appointed by the President, the Immediate Past President, who shall act as chair; the Executive Director who shall be a nonvoting member of the Committee; and two (2) persons elected by the voting members.

In essence, we would like to learn more about you and the unique perspective and insights you would bring to the organization in a leadership role. To accomplish this, applicants for the above open positions must complete the following:
Applications for the open board and nominations committee positions must be submitted using the online submission site. Completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM on February 1, 2017. The application site is only open to members of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.
